Dr. Andrew Dold, MD, FAAOS, FACS, FRCSC, is a double board-certified orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist who has treated professional athletes from the NFL, NBA, NHL and PGA Tour. Trained at the University of Toronto, NYU Langone and Harvard Medical School, he is medical director of the Gatorade Sports Science Institute at The Star and co-founder and Director of Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy at Star Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in Frisco, Texas.

Dr. Dold brings the care he gives professional athletes to every patient, from high school competitors to weekend warriors. He operates at Baylor Scott & White Sports Surgery Center at The Star, the Dallas Cowboys headquarters. He has also served as a team physician for the Jacksonville Jaguars at the NFL Scouting Combine and as team physician and surgical consultant to Rugby Canada.

Residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Toronto. Fellowship in sports medicine and arthroscopy at NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital and the Hospital for Joint Diseases. Surgical Leadership Program at Harvard Medical School. MD with honors from Trinity College Dublin, and BSc with honors from the University of Western Ontario. Board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, with a Subspecialty Certificate in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine, and by the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada.

Research and Leadership

Dr. Dold’s research on hip arthroscopy, knee injuries, Achilles tendon rupture and orthobiologics has been published in AJSM, JAAOS, CORR and KSSTA. He is a peer reviewer for AJSM, Arthroscopy and OJSM, and a senior author and editor for OrthoBullets. He is founding medical director of the Star Foundation for Athletic Recovery. He also founded RevMedRx (RevMed), which was named a top-three capstone project in Harvard’s Surgical Leadership Program, and hosts The Sports Medicine Podcast. Beyond Medicine

A former Canadian under-21 rugby international and Western’s 2004 Athlete of the Year, Dr. Dold captained Trinity College Dublin’s golf team and competed in two Canadian Amateur Championships. He is a course ranking panelist for Golf Digest.
